The myth: If you want to succeed in life, you need good grades.

The truth: Grades are an important way to measure how well you’re doing in school, but they’re not the only one. Your GPA is calculated by taking all your grades from all your classes and dividing them by the number of credits for each class. The average GPA for high school students is between 2.6 and 3.4 (source).

There’s no reason why you can’t achieve these numbers if you work hard enough at it — it’s just harder than it looks.

You need a college degree to be successful

Not all people agree on this point, but some do. If you have good grades, then it’s assumed that you’re smart and intelligent and capable of doing well in life. But what about those who don’t have good grades? Are they not intelligent? Are they not capable of doing well in life? The answer is no! Just because someone has poor grades does not mean they aren’t smart or capable of doing well in life.

In fact, there are many people who have poor grades but go on to do great things with their lives! They may have struggled throughout high school because of various reasons such as personal problems or other issues but still manage to get through it successfully by working hard and focusing on their goals instead of worrying about their grades so much (which is something most people do).

The truth: Teachers have to work with what they’ve got.

A teacher is a teacher and an educator is an educator. They are two different things. The problem is that people often confuse the two, so it’s easy to assume that just because someone teaches, he or she can educate as well (or vice versa). The truth is that many teachers are not educators and many educators are not teachers — which means that your child’s education may be less than stellar even if his or her teacher is great.

In fact, most teachers aren’t trained in education at all — they’re trained in a specific subject area (such as math or science). So while they may be able to teach their subject matter very well, they may not have any idea how to help students learn other subjects or how to help them become independent learners.

That’s why it’s important for parents to understand both sides of the teaching/educating equation so they can make sure their kids get what they need from their teachers and from school in general.

Art has many benefits for people in all stages of life. It has been proven that students who participate in extracurricular activities such as sports or music often excel more academically than those who do not participate in any activities outside of school hours. This proves that art does have a positive effect on human beings and improves their lives by making them better communicators and leaders within society (Arts Ed).

Instead of assuming that you know everything there is to know about your students’ learning styles, try teaching them in different ways until they find one that works well for them. If a student isn’t learning in your classroom, try asking them what method would work better for them (and don’t forget to listen). You may just find out that there’s another way of teaching that makes their eyes light up!


Grades are not the only thing that matters in education. We humans are an emotional race, and sometimes we can be too focused on the outcome and not how to get there. It is also important to keep in mind that success will never come if testing and grading systems are broken.

Students must adapt and learn to forget about their grades, but they should always have a goal and strive for betterment of themselves. The very nature of education is about learning, so if your grades aren’t good you should definitely try harder! However it’s not all about grades; it’s about learning, exploring, and knowing yourself.
