This is a competitive world where everyone is fighting for their individuality no matter what their age is. Getting raised in a nuclear family and all the pampering they have received since childhood makes the child greedy. Here, greed is not about money but about attention, care, and love.
How Depression Develops In Kids
The child, when grows, steps into the outer world, gets introduced to the school and other activity classes where they demand the same attention, love, and care as home. For the same, they compete with their young fellows. When they grow a little more, then there is academic and non-academic competition amongst the students for getting good grades, winning sport and events, and performing better in other activities. There is pressure enforced by parents, teachers, society, and even their peers. Even if the child is fun-loving and happy, the anxiety of all kinds is experienced by the child.
Healthy Vs. Unhealthy Pressure
Pressure is of two kinds: healthy and unhealthy stress.
Healthy pressure helps you push your capabilities and perform better, whereas unhealthy pressure makes you irritated and disappointed. When this unhealthy pressure increases and reaches above a certain level, the stress followed by depression disturbs the child. Stress brings a lot of physical and mental behavioral changes into an individual. These changes should be marked and read by the adults of the family so that they can talk to the child to help one release some stress. Many times there are certain family matters that are devastating for the children to tackle at such a young age. In such a scenario, teachers and friends come to role-play. Talking and sharing their problems helps a lot to handle and settle a situation. If the situation goes out of control, taking the responsibility of the child, any adult should immediately consult the doctor or the child’s family, as it is better to subtle the situation as soon as possible.
What Are Depression And Its Signs?
Depression is a state of mind where a person tries to avoid social contacts and isolates himself. It is a fundamental mental disorder that disturbs a person’s mood, the flow of emotion is uncertain. The primary symptom of depression is anxiousness; a person juggles around the feelings of anger, sadness, fear, and hate. A person also loses interest in activities that used to be fun earlier and becomes a loner. A person is found chiefly lost in one’s thoughts far from reality; nothing seems fun or exciting, i.e., lack of interest.
Role Of Parents And Teachers
Depression incoming indicates a lot of symptoms. As a parent or a teacher, or a mentor, it is your responsibility to recognize the signs and work together to cope with the symptoms. Every activity of a student speaks about their personality and even of their background stories. Not all students prefer to discuss their family or personal problems so often with everyone. You need to understand through their small deep talk, or else you can try to ask about the issues they are facing indirectly with the help of examples or stories or other psychological activities. Being a teacher, being a parent, it is easier to identify even the slightest change in a child’s behavior.
Parents today are more trampling and futuristic for their children that are making children sensitive. Pressurizing children to earn good grades, hold the first position in class, excel in activities and sports, participate in cultural events, and expect them to achieve outstanding achievements snatches away the innocence, freedom, and carefree nature of childhood and the individual essence of the child is lost. Let the child create a sky itself to spread the wings and fly. Never teach your children to prioritize money; instead, teach them values and humanitarian rights.
Parents have to understand, securing the future for their children should not be done while putting the child’s present at stake. The cycle of time is interdependent. Your today will affect your future similarly; your child’s gift depends on its present. For example, if you will take a healthy and safe sleep today, you will feel fresh and active tomorrow; otherwise, you will be low and dizzy all day tomorrow. This is something how your present affects your future.
Give children their space and time to grow; there is an age when a child grows to an adult for which one has to undergo a lot of physical changes. With these physical and hormonal changes, children tend to become mature, sensitive, career-oriented, etc. all these changes are the part of ultimate laws of nature, but the kind of path that a child wants for self, the decision, the sense of understanding all comes with the past experiences and moral teaching.
Teaching children the difference between good and evil is the prime responsibility of the parents; children must be involved in family decisions and should be given the freedom to judge and open up their opinions.
Few specific changes, if done by parents, will help children grow strong and sharp whom the world cannot manipulate and who can work according to their wits.
