LIST OF FUN ACTIVITIES FOR THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL

The last day of the school is usually a fun-filled day for the kids. The students are excited to go on a break before entering into a higher grade. All the assignments, tests, formalities are over, and children feel free to play and have fun the entire day.

Sometimes the process can become very dull. Children left idle during the long school hours tend to become unsettled. They need to do something productive and entertaining to pass their day. If you wish to make the last day of your school fun and unforgettable, then try some of the below-mentioned activities:-

WRITE A MESSAGE FOR NEXT YEAR STUDENTS

Ask the students to pen down their experience of the present class. Tell them to reminisce about their favorite memories and achievements and write them down in the form of a letter. Also, ask the students to write down the advice that they feel would benefit future students. Such activity will keep the students engaged and also make them happy cherishing the precious time they spent in that particular grade.  many International Schools students do this activities at the last day of their school.

MAKE A MEMORY BOOK

Make a small book and tell each student to fill in their memories in this. You can also ask them to take pictures, write messages, and suggestions for improvement. This memory book can be kept as a souvenir by the teacher as a remembrance of that particular class.

ENGAGE IN CLEANING OR PLANTATION

At the end of the year, you can encourage the students to help in cleaning and arranging the classroom. Tell them that this activity can be done as paying tribute to all the helpers. Young children can utilize their energy for something good and also learn some valuable lessons in the process. Tell them to clean the lockers, take out the trash and papers, clean the blackboard, and arrange the desks and chairs. Essential textbooks can be kept aside for donation.

Another activity that kids can do is pick up trash from the school gardens and fields. Encourage the students to plant some flowers and trees as well. As a reward, the teachers can distribute some candies as an appreciation for the student’s hard work and efforts.

SPEECH GAMES

Engage the students in a healthy discussion. Think of some prevalent topics and ask the students to come up with impromptu speeches on these. You can also provide the students a few minutes to jot down the critical points. You can also make this a fun activity by connecting it to some kind of a comic skit. Tell the students to try mimicry. Some fun topics are:-

1) Convince me to buy the shirt that you are wearing

2) What if you were made the principle of the school

3) How would you react if you become invisible

4) What would you do if you find that you are the last person on this planet

PLAY OUTDOOR GAMES

The last day of school should not restrict the students to stay inside the classrooms. Why not involve all the students to play some outdoor games? You can play baseball, cricket, treasure hunting, etc. Such games will make the children feel excited they will be able to entertain themselves, making their last day a memorable one.

FOCUS ON THE NEXT YEAR

Teachers can also utilize the previous day to paint a brief picture of the coming year in the student’s mind. Provide them the guidelines as to how they can prepare themselves to face the upcoming year. When kids get an idea beforehand, they can manage their activities accordingly and also be mentally prepared to meet and adjust to the new schedule.

HOLD A SPELLING CONTEST

Organize a spelling contest, keeping in perspective all the lessons that a student learned in the previous year. This method can prove to be very beneficial for the students as they will be able to revise their concepts.

GO BACK TO BACK

Use a safety pin and attach a small card on the bag pack of every student. Then ask the students to write something good about each other on their respective cards. Once done, ask the students to keep these cards as a memory. Teachers can also get involved in this activity. Students can go to their favorite teachers and administrators and ask them to write something on their cards.

WRITE THANK YOU NOTES

Teach your students to show gratitude towards all the teachers, helpers, staff-members, administrators, and other students involved in the school. Tell them to acknowledge the efforts of everyone and prove their appreciation for their help.
