The novel coronavirus is a new virus that belongs to the large family of coronavirus, which causes respiratory diseases in various animals and humans. COVID-19 is an entirely new virus with no vaccination developed to date. The origins of this disease in humans are still unknown, but many believe that it was introduced in the human body through a bat or a live animal market in the city of Wuhan, China.

The spread of the disease was not appropriately anticipated in the earlier stages due to which the current situation of the global level has become drastic. Millions of people are suffering worldwide, and the casualties are in hundreds. The global pandemic has a high mortality rate of more than 5%, with more fatality in the old-age groups.

From the perspective of its massive spread, several countries have implemented a lockdown. The government is taking all the possible measures to stop the further spread of the disease, and constant and rigorous research is being conducted to develop a vaccine. Hospitals are being constructed, and the medical staff and nurses are working 24*7 to serve the people. The situation is complicated.

The after-effects of the whole situation are posing an enormous potential risk to the economy. The experts all over the world believe that the earth is headed towards a massive economic recession. The lockdown has already caused many small companies to shut down, and numerous people have lost their jobs. Stock markets have slumped, and productivity in several sectors have come to a halt. The whole world is struggling. Hence, at this time, serious precautions need to be followed by everyone.

The current condition calls for the severe discipline and attention of the people. People need to corporate and follow all the precautions to remain safe.

HOW TO PREVENT YOURSELF FROM CATCHING THE DISEASE?

1) WASH YOUR HANDS

Clean your hands with water and soap and make sure that you rub your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds. If, by any chance, soap is not available, keep a sanitizer handy. The sanitizer should be composed of at least 60% alcohol.

2) COVER COUGH AND SNEEZES

The virus is contagious, and hence the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends everyone to cover their mouth or nose while sneezing. Make sure that you do not directly sneeze on another person. If possible, wear a mask at all times.

3) AVOID TOUCHING YOUR FACE

When you touch your mouth, eyes, or nose with your hands, you introduce the virus into your system. Avoid touching your face thoroughly. If you have to touch your face, make sure that your hands are clean and washed. If you are outside your home and in a public place, special precautions should be taken.

4) CLEAN THE SURFACES FREQUENTLY

Make sure that your surroundings and all the surfaces at your home are cleaned and sanitized. The virus can supposedly survive on a cover for a long time. The potential risk of spread is not only from the host. The virus can also spread through the air and various surfaces.

5) STAY HOME

Practice self-quarantine and social distancing always. The government has implemented the lockdown so that the people do not contact other people. Stay at home at all times and only go outside to get the essential supplies. A star bucks coffee does not count as a critical requirement. Respect the laws and regulations. The essential workers are working very hard. The least we can do is stay at home and reduce their struggles and troubles.

6) MONITOR SYMPTOMS

Never ignore your symptoms. That small cough or sneeze should be duly noted. Contact the health care provider if you discover any of the following symptoms:-

  • Cough
  • Sneeze
  • Chest pain
  • Headache
  • Difficulty in breathing
  • Stomach problems

7) WEAR A FACE MASK

A face mask should not only be worn by the patients and the doctors. The present scenario calls for everyone to follow the general precautions and wear a face mask. Before going out for coming in contact with anyone, wear a face mask. While entering a public place, maintain social distance, and wear a mask.

With these precautions, you can ensure safety for yourself as well as your loved ones. The global pandemic is a big fight that can only be won through corporation and belief. Everyone needs to be alert and not anxious.
