The latest hotshot- Uddhav Thackeray, the new crown prince of Shiv Sena and current chief minister of Maharashtra, has an interesting political history.

The youngest son of Balasaheb Thackeray’s three children- Jaidev ThackerayBindumadhav Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray. Uddhav Thackeray (59), a peaceful individual essentially, whenever the party needed his advice or sought help, he would give the duty to his cousin Raj. Later in 1996, he came to live with his dad at his residence- ‘Matoshree’ after his oldest sibling’s- Bindumadhav, death. Bindumadhav died in a street mishap.

Uddhav Thackeray began his political profession in 2002 as a campaign in charge of Shiv Sena in Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) races where the group performed well. In 2003, he was delegated as a working leader of Shiv Sena. Uddhav took over as boss editorial manager of group paper Saamana (a day by day Marathi-language paper distributed by Shiv Sena) in 2006 and surrendered in 2019 preceding turning out to be a boss minister of Maharashtra. Shiv Sena was split in 2006 when his cousin- Raj Thackeray left Shiv Sena. Raj later went on to frame their own party- Maharashtra Navnirman Sena.

After the death of his father Bal Thackeray in 2012, he sat in the driver’s seat of the party and got chosen as Shiv Sena president in 2013. Under his authority, in 2014, Shiv Sena joined NDA government in Maharashtra. Despite the fact that he never took any designated post in his political profession however on 28 November 2019 he made a vow as nineteenth Chief Minister of Maharashtra in the wake of being chosen as the pioneer of recently shaped post-survey alliance Maha Vikas Aghadi.

Thackeray’s enthusiasm for party politics stemmed in 1999 when the Sena-BJP lost to the Congress-Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) consolidated. Personal life-

He is married to Rashmi Thackeray and is a father of two sons- Aditya and Tejas. Uddhav Thackeray has always had a keen interest in photography. His photography art collection- aerial shots of various forts of Maharashtra, had been exhibited at the Jehangir Art Gallery in 2004.
