CREATING AN EFFECTIVE DAILY ROUTINE WITH YOUR CHILD DURING LOCKDOWN

Even the most patient people have their limits tested in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic after successfully navigating through this lockdown. Parents, more than anyone else, have had to make several changes to their daily routines. They are doing it all by themselves, without any domestic support, from handling and meeting job deadlines to keeping kids involved in this situation to keeping them safe. Prior to the lockdown, a leading decor brand’s ‘Make Space for Life’ survey revealed that one-third (34%) of respondents admitted to giving less time to their children due to excessive work pressure, with 33 percent of male respondents saying that work pressure results in less time to their children, compared to 35 percent of female respondents, in the previous three months. Kids, who are the most free-spirited members of our society, are currently in a vulnerable position because they are required to remain fully indoors. Nobody knows how long the schools will be closed or what will happen next. Parents are also reluctant to send their children to school and are embracing the concept of online education. Since the days that go by will never come back, it is important to keep the kids in the habit of learning. They must ensure that children become accustomed to studying at home while being mindful of the school schedule. During this lockdown, there are some very simple things parents can do to increase their productivity, support and assist children in self-empowerment, and adhere to a school-like routine when learning from home-

  • SET GOALS FOR YOURSELF

In a lockout scenario, finding enough time for work and children becomes a challenge. It is difficult for parents to devote 100% of their attention to their jobs when caring for a child. As a result, it is critical that parents reconsider how they split their time between work and their children. It’s a smart idea to adjust the working hours. Another option is to prioritize the most relevant tasks and complete them on time.

  • STICK TO A LOCKDOWN SCHEDULE

In this age of disorganized living, sticking to a wake-up, eat-and-sleep routine is critical. Allow them to make a schedule and stick to it. Daily tasks may be included in the schedule. This will give them strength, and it will be easier for them to return to school when the time comes. Also, be flexible when preparing your day early in the morning. It’s crucial to be able to adjust changes according to the day.

  • MAINTAIN CONTACT WITH YOUR CHILDREN’S EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION

Learn how to communicate with your children’s teacher or school to keep up to date on the next steps, ask questions, and receive further guidance. Create a parent group, which can be a great way to help one another when homeschooling.

  • ONLINE QUARANTINE

Consider restricting your children’s phone and tablet use until their schoolwork is completed, so they can devote their full attention to their studies. Distracting apps, sports, and messaging features are all available. Give your kids a dedicated computer, such as a school laptop, so they can get the most out of their online learning.

  • CREATE A LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

In a peaceful, comfortable, and committed learning environment, children will produce their best work. Bear in mind that children will be in this room for several hours per day and that space will be designed in such a way that it will not harm the child’s health. A place where the child can learn and be more productive. Parents should pay attention to their children’s comfort and posture.

  • KEEP AN EYE ON THE MONITOR

You will assist your child in this new learning situation by keeping track of their interest in adjusting to their new schedule and at-home materials. The best way to do this is to observe. Examine the child’s eyes to see if they’re paying attention to the screen. Check to see if they’re dozing off. Ask questions at the end of a lesson because sometimes minor technical issues like bad audio, a bad link, or an unhelpful camera angle can make a big difference.

  • KEEP IT OLD FASHIONED

The use of screen time may have negative consequences for young minds, so it’s important to be extra cautious when it comes to children in these circumstances. Print and book reading should be encouraged by parents. Encourage the children to express themselves by holding conversations with them about what they’re doing, as well as encouraging creative writing and imaginative storytelling.

  • ASSIST YOUR CHILD IN BEING SELF-SUFFICIENT

For self-care and independence, it’s important to teach your child age-appropriate life skills. Now that schools are closed and children are pursuing online education from home, it is time to instill in them values such as self-reliance, family ties, and environmental awareness. Involve the children in everyday tasks, such as hanging their wet laundry or assisting in the setting up of the dining table. Take a step back and let them handle things on their own; this will help them become more self-reliant and self-sufficient.
