YES BANK CRISIS: PRIYANKA GANDHI SOLD A 2 CRORE PAINTING TO THE YES BANK FOUNDER RANA KAPOOR

BJP and Congress have been involved in a blame game over each other regarding the Yes Bank crisis. Recently a new link had been found between the congress leader Priyanka Gandhi and the founder Rana Kapoor. As per the sources Rana Kapoor had bought a two crore painting of Rajeev Gandhi from the congress member Mrs Priyanka Gandhi. The deal has indicated the involvement of the Congress in the money laundering activities of Rana Kapoor.

This news has sparked a significant reaction from the various BJP leaders and spokesperson who have lashed out on the Gandhi family on their prevalent corruption charges. Sambit Patra, the spokesperson of BJP, has blatantly accused the Gandhi family on Tuesday saying that there is always a mention of the Congress party whenever the corruption is involved. He further said that if corruption were an art, Gandhi family would be the artist.

It has been revealed that the said painting was force-fully sold at such a high amount to the Founder and Chairman of the Yes Bank, Mr Rana Kapoor.

BJP has posed the following questions to the congress government over their said involvement with Rana Kapoor

  • How had Priyanka Gandhi Vadra acclaimed the possession of the said painting? It has been reported to be gifted by the famous painter M.F. Hussain to the then Prime Minister Mr Rajeev Gandhi in the year 1985. Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is being questioned as to how has she acquired this painting as personal property when it should have been deposited in the Toshkhana.
  • Another question was raised as to how much taxes were generated and submitted regarding the painting.
  • Also, why was the painting sold at such a hurried pace?

All these allegations have also lead to the resurfacing of the past corruption charges of the Gandhi Family. It has been revealed that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Milind Deora were involved in organizing the sell and purchase of the painting. The deal was done in the year 2010 to the Yes Bank Founder Rana Kapoor, who is now being investigated for the Yes Bank crisis. Rana Kapoor had issued a cheque in favour of Vadra for the purchase of the painting.

Sources have also indicated that the painting was not the exclusive property of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and belonged collectively to the Congress party. There is no document indicating that the purchase was made from Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Congress party also claimed that the whole deal was transparent as the cheque had been reflected in her Income Tax Returns.

The Yes Bank founder Rana Kapoor was arrested on Sunday, 8th March 2020. Enforcement Directorate arrested Rana Kapoor on the charges of money laundering. ED has captured investments of worth over Rs 2000 crores, 44 expensive paintings and a dozen shell firms in its investigations. ED is also acute over if the painting was the property of All India Congress Committee ( AICC).

Rana Kapoor had previously revealed during the questioning with the investigating officers that we were forced into buying the painting from Priyanka Gandhi for a sum of Rs 2 crores, which she spent on her cottage in Shimla. The ED has decided to summon the general secretary and engage her into some questioning regarding the whole matter. Milind Deora is also to be questioned over the entire affair.

All the investigations and information regarding this particular transaction was revealed through the text messages exchanged between Deora and Rana Kapoor through the smartphone of Kapoor. The text messages prove that the deal was made in a hurry. Also, an acknowledgement regarding the purchase was discovered from Priyanka Gandhi.
