The closing ceremony of the Green Gurukul initiative was organized at the Doon Medical College on Saturday, 29th November, by Waste Warriors Society and Youth United for Waste and Climate Action.
The event was attended by mentors and students from 33 schools and 25 universities across Dehradun, Rishikesh, Roorkee, and Mussoorie. Throughout the course of the Green Gurukul initiative, participants have achieved some incredible impact: 21,000+ climate actions taken, 33,000+ people engaged, 100+ institutions participated, and 10,000 kgs of waste diverted from landfills.
Diya Santhosh and Sara Bari were felicitated with the Change Makers Award for actively leading all the activities throughout the competition.
Moreover, Ms Shruti Joshi, Mr Neeraj Prakash, and Ms Neeru Misra were given the Mentorship Award for their commitment and regular effort throughout the month-long programme. Since the other awardees could not attend, only Ms. Shruti Joshi represented the school and received the awards on behalf of them.
