The Inter-House Classical Music Competition took place on 15th August. It featured six participants per house, showcasing their talent within a strict 7-minute time limit, including stage setup. The Judging criteria included vocal quality, rhythmic interpretation, stage presence, diction, and intonation each scored out of 10. Each house introduced their performance with a brief explanation of the Raga. Relevant PPTs were displayed to enhance understanding and for aesthetic appeal. A tabla exponent supported the students to establish ‘Teentaal’ on stage in Madhyalaya and decorated the various Bandishes in different Ragas while the girls played the tanpura and harmonium themselves. The girls gave brilliant renditions of Ragas such as Raga Bheempalasi, Raga Bhairav, Raga Malkauns, Raga Bageshree and Raga Yaman. Ignis house began the performance with an energetic Aalap of Raga Bhairav which itself is a Ashray Raga of its own Thaat (Parental Scale) and Aether house winded-up the whole show with the most melodious and sophisticated Sargam and bol-Alaap in Raga Yaman which belongs to Thaat-Kalyaan. Every house attempted Tarana to enhance the performances and showed different Layakaries in Ekgun, Dugun and Chaugun.
The event was a beautiful showcase of tradition, and musical finesse, leaving the audience mesmerised.
