A workshop on “Mandatory Implementation of Skill Education in Grades 6, 7 and 8” was held on 11th February 2026 at Olympus High School and 12 February 2026 at Pestle Weed School, Dehradun. The workshop was attended by Ms Savitri Shanmukha and Ms Pooja Sharma on the 11th and Ms. Prakriti Kala and Ms. Ananya Pande on the 12th to gain clarity on policy directives, curriculum integration, and practical execution strategies aligned with national educational reforms. The session was highly informative and provided comprehensive guidance for schools preparing to implement structured skill-based learning at the middle school level. The workshop emphasised the importance of introducing skill education at an early age to familiarise students with diverse practical competencies. The key skill areas identified were Life Forms, Machines and Materials, and Human Services. It was discussed that students of Grades 6 to 8 will undertake one skill project from each area annually and showcase their work at a “Kaushal Mela” at the end of the academic year. The primary objective of implementing skill education is to nurture multiple abilities among students, enhance experiential learning, and broaden their future employment opportunities by equipping them with practical skills.
