École at the Tenth Military History Seminar

Ten École students, accompanied by Ms Neeru Mishra, attended the tenth edition of the Military History Seminar – A Welham Initiative, hosted by Welham Boys’ School on October 9 and 10, 2026. Themed “Western Sector – ’71 War”, the seminar brought together distinguished military leaders and veterans, with General Anil Chauhan (Retd) as Chief Guest at the opening ceremony and Lieutenant General A. K. Singh (Retd) presiding over the closing ceremony.

Discussions explored key battles, including Chamb, Basantar and Longewala, alongside the strategic roles of the Indian Army, Air Force, Navy and airborne forces. A poignant highlight was the sharing of personal stories by Mr Mukesh Khetarpal, brother of Param Vir Chakra awardee 2Lt Arun Khetarpal, and Mrs Inderjeet Boparae, sister of PVC awardee Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, celebrating their siblings’ extraordinary courage and sacrifice.

The Welham Pipe Band added to the occasion with a scintillating performance. For the students, the seminar offered a valuable opportunity to engage with India’s military history through expert insights and inspiring stories of valour and service.
