Health Talk at 2026
A health talk on premenstrual symptoms and menstrual health was conducted for Grade 8 students in the school infirmary. The session began with a lively and interactive icebreaker that helped create a comfortable and welcoming environment.
The students were oriented to important concepts related to puberty and menstruation, including pubarche (the beginning of puberty), menarche (the onset of menstruation), and the hormonal cycle involved in menstruation. They were encouraged to discuss the common symptoms and discomforts they may experience before and during their menstrual cycles, along with an understanding of the physiological reasons behind these changes.
The session also focused on premenstrual symptoms, their management, and practical ways to cope with associated physical and emotional changes. Special emphasis was placed on maintaining good menstrual hygiene, keeping oneself clean and comfortable during menstruation, and ensuring the safe and appropriate disposal of sanitary products.
The students were reassured that premenstrual symptoms are a common part of many girls’ and women’s lives and that understanding these changes and learning to manage them with confidence is an important aspect of growing up.
The session concluded with a group photograph, making it a memorable, meaningful, and informative learning experience for the students.
