Mr. Shiv Lal Dogra
Sports Department Head

My journey began on 30 October 1975, when I stepped into the Brigade of the Guards Training Centre at KotaBundi, Rajasthan. I still remember the pride I felt putting on the uniform for the first time—a feeling that gave purpose and direction to my life. After completing my training, I was posted to the 13th Brigade of the Guards in Kargil, Jammu & Kashmir, where the harsh high-altitude environment taught me resilience, courage and the true meaning of teamwork.
In 1984, I received one of the biggest honours of my service life a posting to the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, as a Weapon Training Instructor. For four unforgettable years, I had the privilege of training young gentlemen cadets—the future officers of our Army. Guiding them, watching them transform and knowing I played a part in shaping their journey remains one of my proudest memories.
In October 1988, I was selected for the IPKF mission in Batticaloa, Sri Lanka. Serving in a foreign land under demanding conditions strengthened my belief in duty, discipline and perseverance. After returning, I continued my instructional journey at Headquarters IMTRAT, Bhutan, from January 1991 to January 1993, contributing to India’s long-standing partnership and training initiatives with Bhutan.
In 1998, after years of committed service, I was honourably pensioned out. But my passion for teaching, guiding and working with young minds did not end there—it only grew stronger.
I began the second phase of my career as a Physical Training Instructor. I served at Pestle Weed College School, Mussoorie until 2010, followed by Scholars Home School, Dehradun from 2010 to 2011. From 2011 to 2013, I continued my journey at Unison World School, helping students build fitness, confidence and character.
Since 2013, I have been proudly associated with Ecole Globale Girls’ International School, where I serve as HOD Sports and Shooting Sports Instructor. Working with young athletes teaching them focus, patience and precision has given me immense fulfilment. Watching them grow into confident, disciplined individuals has been one of the greatest rewards of my life.
